INSIDE VILLAGE EXTRANET FOR VILLAGE HOMES

A Customizable Extranet for Village Homes

Village Homes, located in Littleton Colorado, is the largest privately owned homebuilder in Colorado.  Technology has played a large factor in Village Homes becoming an effective leader in the industry.  Village Homes increased their information technology budget in 2001 despite an 8% decline in revenue.  This is a testament to Village Home's desire to lead the industry, powered by a solid technical infrastructure.  

Several years ago, Village Homes selected MH2 to provide the company's informational backbone, with an advanced enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.  The ERP system provided critical back-office processes.  To complete the picture, Village Homes contracted Pragmatic Software Co., Inc. to design an extranet that offers front-office functionality.

The extranet provided by Pragmatic Software was named "Inside Village". Inside Village (www.insidevillage.com) allows trade contractors to view their jobs, bid on upcoming jobs, review purchase orders, variance purchase orders and change requests.  It also allows them to view their scheduled activities for houses under construction.  The flexible reporting engine allows trade contractors, suppliers and business partners to fully share back-office information over the web.

"Included in Pragmatic Software's offering was a feature that streamlined the difficult and timely process of drafting contracts for our constructed homes.  Before this feature was implemented, it usually took sales people three to four hours to create a legal document between Village Homes and the homebuyer.  Now it takes less than a half hour. " says Robert Rockwell, information systems director of Village Homes.  "Inside Village is expected to streamline projects, improve customer satisfaction, and make the company more competitive.  We think the ROI on this extranet is huge." adds Rockwell.
